Welcome to John Joseph, watchmaker and restorer. The workshop in the centre of Basel specialises in the careful restoration of antique timepieces.
Care and Preservation of Historical Clocks
Our workshop offers a comprehensive restoration service for antique timepieces, including clocks, pendulums, pocket watches and wristwatches. With over 50 years of experience, founded in 1955 by the renowned Basel watchmaker Hermann Schudel and taken over by John Joseph in 1998, we guarantee the highest standards of craftsmanship and precision.
My centrally located studio in Basel, near Barfüsserplatz, is easily accessible by public transport or car. Although I do not have a shop, you will find me easily on the 3rd floor of the building (with lift). I offer you personal and dedicated care for the maintenance and preservation of your historical watches.
The craft is still relevant
The workshop is equipped with all the tools and machines needed to repair antique clocks and watches. Missing parts can be reproduced by hand. For example, missing gear wheels can be replaced with the gear milling machine.
